DRAGCON

At RuPaul’s DragCon in Los Angeles, we dared to ask, “What does it take to be a Bad Bitch?” The experts weighed in.

Kimora Blac

“You better be confident. You gotta be loyal to yourself. You gotta know your value. You gotta know your dreams. You gotta have stride; you can’t be lazy. Do your shit. And, you cannot depend on any man, any woman. You gotta pay your own bills, drive your own car, and just get your life together! As soon as you become a bad bitch, everything will come into place.”

Bebe Zahara Benet

“To me, a bad bitch is somebody who is very very authentic: somebody who does not apologize for who they are, what they do, what they love, who they love. A bad bitch is somebody who is very very very very steadfast in celebrating themselves and celebrating others. A bad bitch is somebody who is very goal orientated and is gonna do everything in their power to get to that goal. Now, that is a bad bitch! Don’t forget about beauty too, honey! She better give the looks!”

Derrick Barry

“It definitely takes heels, a wig—a long wig—and confidence! It’s all about the attitude. So, if you can’t serve it when you come out on stage, or just in life, then you gotta find that inner strength within. Nobody can teach you how to own a room, or own a moment, except yourself. So, pose in the mirror, record yourself, anything you can do to just up it!”

Farrah Moan

“Being a bad bitch ain’t easy! It takes some hustle. It takes some drive. It takes some courage. It takes some love. It takes some self-love. And, it takes some drive to just really be that bitch: the baddest bitch.”
