APPETITE

“Appetite” was a labor of love. It was an important project because it represented women in the food industry at all levels. We showed the audience a glimpse of a powerhouse and her empire, while embodying the true “appetite” of women for pleasure, consumption, work and success (an image rarely shown in popular media). Profiled below is Yassmin Sarmadi, a business woman who has successfully dominated the Los Angeles food industry through projects such as Church and State, Spring, and Knife Pleat in Orange County. In “Appetite” she shares her journey as an Iranian-American woman navigating a male-dominated industry.
